my eye ritual

7/24/2022

every day I
place upon my eye
place us here we might
space becomes new light

with this lens I see
special clarity
left or right matters
else my being blurs
every day I
hold open my eye
open up my stash
hold my lid & lash

with this lens I see
warped transparency
left or right which first
will contact be cursed
every day I
look to do this right
faces eye my eye
enigmas in flight

with this lens I see
what stigmas will crash
left to do this see
later will be trash

every day I
sense you thru my eye
sensibly we might
wormhole to new light
This poem was crafted with the Bertzolaritza tradition of Basque culture in mind. To experience the improvisational spirit of bertsolaritza, I composed quickly and sang it to artist Laurita Siles as a gesture of gratitude for her work in residency & exhibition at MING Studios, "Irutzen Har Nuzu - I am Making Wool"
