poetry

by Jason Morales

willpowers
peculiar and rarely
an irony of intimacy

incredible varieties
others immense

the whole of its yolk
the tip of its big toe

identifying units
basic functional units

core characteristics
of a life theory

simplistics said weary
to be definitively alive

theorists and artisans
frontiers beyond reach

hooks of naked eye
thin slices of cork

to teach science
of a bio poetry

row after row of cavity
of cella of cubicle room

swimming in
pond water and

growing in plaque
growing in teeth

van animalcules
I know how to say it

bacteria recorded
inhabiting literally

from the high atmosphere
to depths of earth's crust

huge constantly changing
human and non-human

botanists sliding through
swan-like bio organisms

composed namely
of small rooms

of a life form
in its own right

pathological virtue
a sum of vital units

each of which
bears in itself

an act
an activity to

move and respond
always in motion

it may seem simple
but definitely alive

believe me
