defeat, my defeat

1/14/2023

defeat, my defeat
my oblivious aloneness
you are clearer to me
than every year of the two thousands thus far
and neater than my memories
of speeches at trophy ceremonials

defeat, my defeat
my indulgence and my compliance
through you I remember the wisdom of this age
and not to get trapped in rounding errors
and in you that I sounded like weakness
and hated being trolled and shamed for it

defeat, my defeat
my defining statement of truth
evoking freedom in all forms
understanding how knowledge has gravity
and then alas - yes - being grasped
like a ripe fallen fruit to be eaten

defeat, my defeat
my guide, my dear friend
you more than others get my poems and gifts
and few but none more than you do quantumly attest
of these rhythms of lines and our urgings of seas
and the scrolls landing views on your voiceovers
your stats off the charts

defeat, my defeat
my lifelong endurance
you and I laugh about the bullshit
and we totally dig our own graves
as we bake in the sun bullshitting willing
to accept simply chancing it
inspired by Khalil Gebran, on Defeat
