petals of metaphor

5/5/2025

Picture
feeling my raging desire for
existence, primordial, more
than this moment, joyfully more
than Dionysian art or
fragrant petals of metaphor
that delight the senses and pour
it on to completely adore
everything that came before,
including all the wrongs that tore
us to pieces, the hurts that wore
us down, the struggles that we bore
while pushing through into life, nor
those we feigned to simply ignore
as if somehow, we could explore
new realms while avoiding our core
truths, until bold moves now restore
hope, here these knocks upon the door
instill faith and family lore
shared with an attentive care for
future generations and more,
the universal will

    about the gardenpomes

The gardenpomes project began in 2014, as Instagram posts @jasonaeiou tagged #gardenpomes (IG); and tweeted #gardenpomes

The photos are taken in my garden with a smartphone, with some exceptions.

The poems then reflect what is captured in the photo, what is felt or thought that day, what is imagined through looking.

The poems are scribed immediately after the photo is taken. All initially take form as tetrameter couplets and then play with iambic trochaic spondaic anapestic dactylic rhythms, idioms and pearls.
